The Teaching Contract
A teaching contract with ALC commits you to a one or two year stay. A full time teaching schedule consists of 18-22 hours a week, although you may begin with fewer hours. This can be very demanding since class preparation is also time consuming. Teachers are paid NT$530-730 per hour, not including bonus. This will be more than enough to cover your rent, Chinese language classes and living expenses. The current exchange rate is NT$34 to US$1. Upon completion of the teaching contract, you will be paid US$500 towards the cost of a one-way plane ticket home.
